{42} Chaitr Navratras-the beginning of the new year


           According to the Lunar calender,  Navratras mark the beginning of the month of Chaitra and the end of the harvest season. In India, the first day of Navratras in the month of March is observed as the beginning of the new year. 
                                         on this day,temples,homes and business outlets are decorated with flowers and mango leaves, especially the entrances.Making colourful rangolis in front of the house is a common practice.People wake up before sunrise , have ceremonial oil bath, visit temple and listen to the recitation of the almanac. Purchasing of jewellery, new vehicles,electric gadgets,inauguration of new houses,new business and start-ups are considered auspicious movements on the day.Infact,this day is celebrated as the best day for turning one"s dream into reality.
                          It is believed that on this day Lord Brahma created the universe. Coronation of Yudhishthira was solemnised . Many important events in India like the beginning of Vikram Samvat by the king Vikrmaditya, birth of saint jhoole Lal, birth of second sikh Guru shri Angad Dev ji,The foundation of Arya Smaj by Maharshi Dyanand, Coronation of Lord Rama etc.mark this day.  New year ushers in change and spells hope.Thus  this day is really auspicious for us to celebrate.
