{42} Chaitr Navratras-the beginning of the new year
According to the Lunar calender, Navratras mark the beginning of the month of Chaitra and the end of the harvest season. In India, the first day of Navratras in the month of March is observed as the beginning of the new year.
On this day, temples, homes, and business outlets are decorated with flowers and mango leaves, especially the entrances.
Making colorful rangolis in front of the house is a common practice.
People wake up before sunrise, have ceremonial oil baths, visit temples, and listen to the recitation of the almanac.
Purchasing of jewelry, new vehicles, electric gadgets, the inauguration of new houses, new businesses, and start-ups are considered auspicious movements on the day.
In fact, this day is celebrated as the best day for turning one"s dream into reality.
