SHORT STORY

There was a disciple named kautsa of learned rishi Varatantu.It is believed that Kautsa

 wanted to pay his fees or guru dakshina to the rishi Who had asked for 140 million gold 

coins.Kautsa sought the help of a generous king,who requested his friend Lord Kuber to 

shower gold coins under a tree called   aapati.Kautsa paid his fee with the required amount 

of coins and distributed the rest among the needy.Hence,it is common to gift leaves of the 

aapati tree,  which is symbolic of giving gold to friends and relatives on dussehra.
