191 Guru Purnima

         सब धरती कागद करूँ , लेखनी सब बनराय ।       सात समुंदर की मसि करूँ, गुरुगुण लिखा न जाय ॥                                                        Sant Kabir. Means -if the whole Earth is transformed into paper with all the big trees of the forest made into pens; if the entire water in the seven oceans is transformed into writing ink; if for eternity I was to write the glory of the guru, it would not be enough. Such is the greatness of the guru.                             According to the Hindu calendar, this special day is observed on Purnima, full moon day, in the month of Ashadh, June-July. It is then known as "Guru Purnima".  In the word "Guru Purnima" the first syllable 'gu' represents Maya, the power that deludes, which poses a big impediment to the seeker's effort to attain God-realisation. The second syllable "ru" represents the Supreme Light of Consciousness.  The word 'guru' thus indicates the rise of the sun in the form
